Dr. Ashok Karania is an entrepreneurial leader with more than 15 years of senior management experience in strategy, sales, alliances and client relations.

He is a growth-oriented professional with a proven track record in developing, managing and scaling alliances to augment Apexon’s innovative offerings. He has delivered success stories in Telecom, Retail, FinTech & Hi-Tech Industries using a consultative solutions-driven approach to actualize new ideas in Digital Engineering Services, DevOps, Quality Engineering, Enterprise Mobility, Mobile Testing and Certification.  Enabling Global Organisations to embrace and execute ‘Digital First’ and ‘Digital Transformation’ initiatives is his forte.

Currently, Ash is driving the key partnerships to deliver customer value and business success. His focus is on developing, managing and scaling alliances to augment Apexon’s innovative offerings. Previously, as the Vice President for Europe Business, he brought Apexon’s highly innovative and cutting-edge Silicon Valley expertise to European enterprises.

Ashok Karania is actively driving Gujarati Localization Initiatives through Gujaratilexicon, Digital Bhagwadgomandal, Lok Kosh etc. Gujaratilexicon has achieved a Thought Leader status in the Gujarati Localization domain through innovative technology solutions, rich alliances and niche marketing. Since its launch in 2006, it has served thousands of lovers of language with its worldclass website, comprehensive lexical resources and prompt customer support. Bhagwadgomandal project has been selected by US Federal Government’s Library of Congress as one of the rich reference work for Gujarati Encyclopedic work.

Ashok Karania was the Founder of Mobile Monday Ahmedabad. Mobile Monday Ahmedabad’s mission is to promote mobile technology and to bring the people in the Ahmedabad mobile industry together to network. He was also the Member of CII Gujarat State Panel for ICT before he left for London.

Previously, Ashok held the position of MD & CEO at Magnet Technologies, a software technology company based in Mumbai. He shared the responsibility for Magnet’s day to day operations and led company’s strategic planning, management, organization building and marketing efforts. During its 10 year journey, Magnet delivered outstanding results to its clients across USA, Australia, Europe and India. Magnet has been featured as one of the Red Herring Top 20 Open Source Companies.

Prior to joining Magnet, Ashok worked with the Indian subsidiary of German FMCG giant Henkel. At Henkel SPIC, he demonstrated exemplary sales performance in Mumbai, Pune & Nagpur. He was also credited with turnaround of Western Maharashtra & Vidharbha region and building MIS driven systems.

Ashok graduated from Narsee Monjee College in April 1999 with specialization in Accountancy & Computer Applications. He was awarded the Jamnabai Narsee Shield for Best Student of Narsee Monjee College for his outstanding performance in academic and extra-curricular activities. He completed his post graduation in management with specialization in marketing and finance from S P Jain Institute Of Management & Research, Mumbai in April 2002. He completed Oxford FinTech Programme at University of Oxford’s Said Business School.

Ashok completed his doctoral thesis on Indian Film Industry from University of Mumbai. The title of the Thesis was: ‘Application of Modern Management to Indian Film Industry with Special Reference to Mumbai’. The research is one of the first business research on the Indian Film Industry and it coincides with the completion of 100 years of Indian Cinema.

He can be caught watching the latest movie flick, when not involved in animated discussions on future strategies. Traveling, reading, music and philosophy are his key interests. Ashok is a popular speaker and shared his insights and experiences at TEDx Lakhota Lake, National Software Testing Conference, Test Expo, MIT AITI Speaker Series, Tie, CII, Nasscom, Mobile Monday Forums. He has been frequently featured in media. He grew up in Bombay and is currently divides his time between Ahmedabad and United States.
